The U.S. Department of Education is proposing to exclude graduate nursing programs from the list of “professional degree” programs—cutting available federal loans for future APRNs, leaders, and faculty in half.

This threatens the nursing pipeline at a time of critical shortages. RI nurse, Carol, shared why access to graduate education matters: “I became a nurse because of federal loans and grants. Costs have skyrocketed since then—advanced nursing education must stay accessible if we want to meet future healthcare needs.”
