JOB TITLE: Director of Nursing Programs

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Nursing Programs is a key member of the school’s leadership team who leads and guides RINI in preparing students for careers in nursing as aligned with the mission and the vision of the school. Serving as the nursing programmatic team leader, the Director of Nursing Programs leads the academic team delivering the nursing and health care courses, college coursework, healthcare internships, and the workforce certificate/license classes that highlights the uniqueness of the RINI model. The Director of Nursing Programs also manages college and career readiness opportunities, programming, and curriculum to ensure each student has meaningful exposure to the nursing profession and is on a clear pathway to college.

The Director of Nursing Programs will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review, and evaluation of the school’s workforce readiness and Career Technical Education (CTE) programming. This includes coordination of college courses, internship programs, and postsecondary advising within the RINI community to ensure the delivery of relevant, industry-driven student experiences that adhere to national education practice standards and stays abreast of and incorporates current research into nursing education practice. This includes directing the overall career program at RINI, including afterschool and summer nursing programs, and supporting the overarching mission of the school,

REPORTS TO: Principal

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

Serves as a member of the School Leadership Team
Manages the academic team delivering the nursing and health care courses, college coursework, healthcare internships, and the workforce certificate/license classes.
Collaborates with the Student Support Team, Academic Support Team, and Instructional Staff to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and revise nursing curriculum and associated college and career pathway supports.
Establishes, maintains, and communicates a college-going and nursing career culture for all students, faculty, and staff.
Acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of nursing and career readiness staff.

Nursing Education

Assesses plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive career readiness education programs to meet the needs of the Nursing Program as aligned with the mission and vision of the school.
Ensures all programs meet national nursing and healthcare regulatory expectations and standards. Adheres to national education practice standards and stays abreast of and incorporates current research into nursing education practice.
Provides consultation to enhance career education, internship opportunities, and mentorship opportunities.
Develops and delivers/coordinates other Instructional Faculty and staff to support the competence and professional growth of Nursing Program staff
Develops curricula that are reflective of evidence-based practice and uses the appropriate methods of teaching to accommodate learning styles and the learning environment.

Nursing Program Team

Schedules and meets regularly with the Nursing Program and College Access Staff to maintain communication, provide support/consultation, and ensure instructional best practices for all students’ academic success.
Partners with the Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning and the Director of Culture and Community to support teachers in developing student-centered classroom structures that ensure a focus on learning and student success and that embed the school-wide nursing focus within these efforts.
Supports with the Principal, Director of Teaching and Learning, and Director of Culture and Community on the development and implementation of student academic supports and interventions through the grade-level teams and the RTI process.

Research

Integrates relevant research outcomes into nursing professional development practice through effective learning activities.
Evaluates outcomes of the educational programs and utilizes findings for continued improvement. Incorporates objective assessment of classroom and clinical performance into an evidence-based evaluation framework.
Applies measurement instruments and statistical analysis, seeking consultation with current nursing professionals when needed.
Supports integration of research into student learning experiences and helps develop staff members’ knowledge and skills in the teaching process.
Other

Remains current regarding changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field to ensure quality leadership.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking, organization, problem solving and team building skills. They will be flexible, able to switch priorities quickly and believe in the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to student education. They will make evidence-based decisions consistent with sound judgment and experience which will facilitate program growth and development.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree preferred.
At least 5 years clinical nursing experience
At least 3 years of supervisory/ management experience
Experience teaching or working with adolescents/young adults.
Skills in developing partnerships with outside organizations to enhance student opportunities.
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent writing skills for documentation, state reports, and internal data
Possesses a growth mindset driven by the belief that all RINI students can succeed in college and a nursing career.
Promotes and enforces RINI educational philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that directly benefit the student.
Establishes an equitable and inclusive school climate, where students are at the helm of educational practices.
