This workshop will provide participants with information on effective treatment intervention for older adults with substance use disorder. Participants will be given an overview of the barriers that get in the way of access to treatment, as well as action steps to address this growing issue of substance use disorder in older adults.

The presenter, Sharon Morello, RN, BSN is a consultant, trainer, subject matter expert in the field of behavioral health. Currently Ms. Morello is a Technical Expert Lead for JBS International, Inc. where she is responsible for the administration and program implementation of national initiatives pertaining to substance use disorders. Her previous positions include serving as the Director of Professional Development at The Substance Use and Mental Health Leadership Council of RI, the Vice President of Clinical Operations at CODAC, the Associate Administrator of Substance Use Disorders Policy and Planning for the State of Rhode Island’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, and as the Director of Training and Development at the Providence Center. Ms. Morello has been working with individuals with behavioral health disorders for over 20 years and provides training and consultation nationally, regionally, and locally.
